The Wyoming Gaming Commission released its July 2026 Wagering Activity Report this week. The headline number, $16,944,822 in online sports betting handle, is essentially flat month-over-month (+0.2% from June's $16.91M), marking the third straight month of handle stuck near the $16.9M line. But the more interesting story is on the revenue side: statewide hold jumped from 8.33% in June to 14.34% in July, producing $2.43M in gross gaming revenue, the highest single-month GGR of 2026 to date.

Hold spiked to 14.34%, the highest single month of 2026
Wyoming's typical monthly hold sits in the 8 to 12% range. July's 14.34% is well above that band and translates directly into a bigger operator take. To frame the scale: on essentially the same handle base as June, July produced $2.43M in GGR versus June's $1.41M. That is roughly $1M in additional operator gross revenue extracted from the same wager volume.
Per-operator hold detail:
- BetMGM 17.92%, the sharpest month for BetMGM's Wyoming hold since launch. Combines low-hold promo attrition wearing off with strong sports outcomes on Lion's Boost parlays.
- DraftKings 15.06%, up from 7.96% in June. Bettors lost harder on the same DraftKings market mix.
- FanDuel 13.17%, up from 10.53%. Still the sharpest priced book in the state on a hold basis.
- Fanatics 11.46%, up from 9.01%. In line with wider industry norms.
- Caesars 5.22%, back to positive after June's -1.90% negative-GGR outlier. Still the softest hold in Wyoming.
For bettors: July was a rough month across the board. If you were down for the month, you were not alone; the average Wyoming customer gave back proportionally more than they did in either May or June.
DraftKings share back to 51.9%, near March highs
May was DraftKings' softest share month at 46.9%. June recovered to 49.4%. July pushed further to 51.9%, the highest since March 2026 (66.6%, when the market was still concentrated). This confirms the pattern: DraftKings' floor in Wyoming is roughly half the market, and it recovers share whenever no promotional cycle favors a competitor.
The mirror image is Fanatics, which slid from 7.9% share in June to 5.8% in July. Fanatics' Wyoming handle was $980K, its lowest since March. Nothing structural has changed at Fanatics; this is variance on a small share.
BetMGM ticked up 1.7 points to 14.5%, consolidating around the new higher-share tier BetMGM has held since May's 15.6% spike. BetMGM's Wyoming presence looks materially stronger in 2026 than it did in 2025.
Non-cash payouts inch up as bonus-bet cycles reset
The July report shows $437,805 in non-cash payouts (bonus bets converting to withdrawable cash after wins), up from June's $290K. This is the promotional-cycle refresh: books re-issue bonus bets ahead of NFL preseason (which kicked off August 7 nationally), and July is when the deployment ramps.
Per-operator non-cash payouts in July:
- DraftKings: $242,968 (biggest promo footprint)
- FanDuel: $100,281
- BetMGM: $68,492
- Fanatics: $20,740
- Caesars: $5,324 (smallest, consistent with their soft handle base)
Tax revenue rebounds sharply
Total state tax due for July was $184,087, more than double June's $81,548 and the highest single-month tax collection since March 2026. The math tracks: higher hold and higher taxable revenue produce proportionally higher tax at Wyoming's 10% rate.
Year-to-date 2026 state sports betting tax revenue is now approximately $1.05M across seven months.
What to watch for in August
- NFL preseason lifts handle. Preseason play started August 7. Historically Wyoming handle climbs 15 to 25% August-over-July on NFL preseason plus the college football buildup. Expect August handle near $19 to $21M.

- Hold normalization. July's 14.34% hold is above the long-run mean. August normally reverts toward 9 to 11% as the promo cycle refreshes into football season.
